A Human Centered Design I came across while playing Tambola this weekend
You would be hunting for pen, pencil or a needle like object when playing Housie or Tambola. A group game played and enjoyed with large number of participants, generally 15 or more, is a household game for parties.
The housie tickets are printed sheets with random numbers and require you to cross/mark the number that’s called out randomly.
Marking the number is prone to manual errors and lead to arguments in the game
- Incorrect number marked. Ability to rectify that.
- 2. Marked number not visible, if the poked hole is big
- 3. Tallying the numbers on ticket with that of main sheet
- 4. Need for many pen/pencils for marking
- 5. Collecting pen/pencils post event
The design of the ticket in my hand show how creatively all these problems are solved. And it looks aesthetic. Am sure the cost would be higher but the user experience was amazing.
